Hypnosis for Children, Youth, Tweens and Teens
Hypnotherapy uses the state of hypnosis as therapy - a state of intense concentration similar to daydreaming, where you remain alert and aware of your surroundings but your focus of attention is elsewhere. You may wonder how hypnosis, hypnotherapy and guided imagery can actually be of any benefit to your child, or help improve medical or emotional conditions such as anxiety, bed-wetting and fussy eating.
There are many children's problems that hypnotherapy can help with. And, the great thing is that children are usually excellent hypnotic subjects. They have such wonderful imaginations that you can induce the hypnotic state easily and rapidly by getting them, for example, to imagine taking off in a space craft or taking part in their favorite television program or movie.
A surprisingly large percentage of childhood complaints stem from unresolved emotional issues. Many children, for example, who suffer from Bronchial Asthma are anxiety-ridden, lack confidence and are dependent on one or both of their parents to an extreme degree. There may be physical factors that are directly implicated, but often the parent is told that the child will "grow out of it". More likely the child (and maybe even the parent) simply matures enough to resolve the emotional issues that triggered the problem in the first place

School, learning, consecration and focusSchool is a significant area of difficulty for many children. Everything ranging from learning and homework to problems with peers can be addressed with hypnotherapy. Often only one or two sessions are required for effective results. Children can gain significant improvement in their self-confidence and ability to succeed with the help of hypnosis. Hypnosis can help them learn healthy and empowering coping techniques. It can help enhance and release their creativity also. With the help of hypnotherapy a child can really blossom and become much more successful and happier.
No unwanted or negative side effects
One of the great advantages in using hypnosis with children is that there are no negative side effects. These techniques are calming, drug free and enjoyable for the child.
Parental Support Very Important
As in any intervention with children, it is important for parents to be present and informed. During sessions the parent is either relaxing nearby in the background or waiting outside the hypnosis office. Parents are supportive and encouraging, but really don't play any part in the actual sessions.
In the first session, just as with adults, the child identifies the problem and decides what kind of outcome they want. It is also a time of building rapport and trust between child and hypnotist. During this session the child is evaluated to determine that they are willing to work with the hypnotist and that they want to change.
We use the power of your child's Imagination
Most children reach powerful levels of hypnosis far faster than adults. We may use one or any of the following to help transform a child while in hypnosis: Stories, visualizations, imaginative games and any other tool we feel we may need.
We cannot accurately predict how many sessions your child will need. Most little ones, but not everyone, begin to experience the benefits from the very first session and most children are happily finished in 2-3 sessions. Older Kids and tweens can take longer but for the most part all kids respond positively and quickly.
